Shawn is the inventor of the core wind generator technology on which Humdinger is founded. Previous to his involvement with Humdinger, Shawn successfully matured two technologies, in the fields of “green” packaging and water disinfection, from concepts into developed products in pre-production. He established a strong intellectual property base surrounding those technologies and in early 2006 sold substantial rights to a Fortune 500 company. He is presently involved with refining the manufacturing processes of those products in facilities that have been built overseas.

He is also part of an on-going effort established four years ago at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to develop low-cost technologies by which entrepreneurs in Haiti can transform agricultural wastes into saleable cooking fuel.

Shawn has eight pending U.S. patents. He has his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Jerry practiced law in Honolulu, Hawai’i for over 26 years. He was a founding partner of one of the largest law firms in Honolulu, and the founding and name partner in the only law firm in Honolulu that was approved by the Japan Ministry of Justice to open a branch office in Tokyo. He has represented some of the largest corporations and banks in Japan in the acquisition, sale and/or finance of major hotel and resort properties. He also worked on some of the larger reorganizations of insolvent insurance companies in Hawaii.

Previous to his legal career, Jerry was the director of the Ethnic Studies Program at the University of Hawai’i, Manoa (during which time he lead a delegation of students, educators and politicians to the People’s Republic of China in 1974 with the hope of normalizing relations between China and the United States), and taught in the Asian American Studies Program at the University of California, Berkeley. He has his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, his Masters of Education in Foundations of Education from the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley.

Jordan 'Butter' McRae

Jordan previously worked at Lockheed Martin Space Systems as a Software and Algorithms engineer. His experience as an Aeronautical Engineer has left him with a strong background in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, control systems, mechanics, electronics, and software engineering. This background is currently being used to develop a high fidelity model of the aeroelastic effects on the Windbelt to predict optimal power performance.

Besides his love of wind energy and butter-filled pastries, Jordan also has a particular interest in underwater robotics and how intelligent systems can play a role in sustainable development and environmental monitoring. Really this is just an excuse for him to go scuba diving.

Jordan received his B.S. at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.S. from Stanford University, both in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering.

In addition to the core team, Humdinger also works with a wide array of independent consultants who focus on industrial design, aerodynamic modeling, electromagnetic modeling, and some folks who are just really good at building stuff. If you think you might make a fit in Humdinger's extended family, drop Shawn an email.
